In the summer of 2005, Marin County Coroner Kenneth Holmes allowed PFNC access to records of Golden Gate Bridge suicides from 1995 through July of 2005. The majority of jumpers are male (75%) and non-Hispanic whites (82.5). Other highlights of that data are below.

Bay Area Residents -- 87%

Median Age -- 40
Youngest Jumper -- 14
Oldest Jumper -- 84

Suicide Notes were left by 24.5%

Please note: The Marin Coroner receives all the bodies picked up by the Coast Guard under the bridge and those that are subsequently carried by the tide to land in Marin County. Other bodies have been found in San Francisco, San Mateo and Contra Costa counties during the study period however data on these deaths is not included here. In addition, the tide carries others out to sea, who are then never found.
